I could see the futures
all lined up in your eyes
but the one that I most wanted
never realized.
I tried to pick the right path
but I guess I didn't see
that when one door opens
another closes for you and me.

The comet I was riding on is gone
and I'm all burned out

I tried to roll with the punches
and just ignore the lies
but I found out how many
is one too many tries
the path down by the river
is overgrown they say
I could try another
but that's just not my way.

we made it to the winter
and then it fell apart
I could see why it might be best
to never have a heart.
I went out on the front porch
and sat there all alone
looked up at the evening sky
and wished I was back home.

I live in a landscape of ghosts and scientific oddities. Memories surface like flying fish in a glassy ocean. Songwriting for me is like a spiderweb; the strangest things fly into it.
